The good figures on sales of his last phone are not enough to stop the decline of the results of the OEM. Its losses amounted to 1.2 billion euros in 2011.

The Finn will he his salvation to Microsoft? Nokia said at the presentation of its results for the fourth quarter of 2011 it sold in two months, "more than a million Lumia ", its first Windows phone with sales could still grow with the upcoming launch of the Model 900 in the U.S. States.

But this positive trend does little to counteract the disenchantment of consumers for the brand. Nokia has been slow to react to the iPhone. And this strategic error cost him dearly. The last quarter of 2011, he has passed that 19.6 million smartphones in 2010 against 28.6 million over the same period.

The iPhone more profitable than Nokia

Over one year, sales of mobile collapse of 25% from $ 103.6 million in 2010 to 77.3 million in 2011. In comparison, in 2010, Apple has passed 72.3 million iPhones. However, the mobile business of the manufacturer at the apple is much more juicy. The turnover on the sales of iPhone is mounted on the year to 47 billion. At the same time, Nokia recorded 11.9 billion euros (14.84 billion dollars) in sales on the sales of smartphones.
Indeed, to halt the decline, Nokia had to cut prices of its models at the same time trimming its margins. It is no longer in 2011 only 3.7% on sales of its mobile against 12.2% a year earlier.
Over the year, Nokia recorded a turnover of 38.6 billion euros for a net loss of EURO 1.2 billion (before tax). In 2010, the results of the former number one mobile phone were positive. It posted 1.78 billion profit for a turnover of 42.4 billion.
